When you first come to Puhoi
-- how to get here when you first visit

When you come north
from Auckland

 you turn left off State Highway1


coming from Auckland and Orewa

 

When you come south
from Northland

 you turn right off State Highway 1


coming from Northland  and Warkworth

     

The sealed Puhoi road winds for 600m (1/2 mile) to the Bohemian Village with two of Puhoi's wide selection of  places to stay on your left.

On you right you pass a simple wooden wayside shrine, erected in 1953 as part of Puhoi 90th celebrations.

  Next on your left is the old Catholic Convent and school, now a Museum
     

On you right is a residence from
"stage 5" of development -- and currently for sale --
is worth a second look....

On your left is
St Peter & Paul's Catholic Church
where mass is still read in Latin.

     

On your right is Puhoi Canoe Hire where you can take a canoe
on the Puhoi stream or go one way between Puhoi and the sea.

Right beside it is the Puhoi Community Hall where Bohemian Dancers entertain and other social activities take place.

Over the bridge on the left,
Krippner Rd – named after the original Bohemian leader, Captain Krippner -
leads to the accommodation venues,
 a Farm-Park, and Puhoi Kennels.
